Fairy Godmothers make prom affordable for everyone

PHOENIX -

Girls in the valley will be able to get quite the special gift this weekend -- a prom dress for $10 -- shoes for $5 and jewelry for a few more dollars.

The dress, shoes and jewelry are all in one place for one reason.

"Especially for a senior prom it's a stepping stone for the girl to go out in the world in college," says Joyce Jesko.

"It just makes my heart melts, and if they are teary eyed then that's all I need to see here goes my waterfall."

It's an emotional experience for Joyce Jesko, also known as the fairy godmother. She started the event in 2001 to help teen girls find a dress for prom on a budget.

"It's for junior and senior high school girls that have to come with their school ID to enter and they can get a beautiful dress for $10."

The donated dresses are sizes 0 to 18. Most of the gowns are from David's Bridal.

The Fairy Godmothers is at Metrocenter Mall on the first floor by Macy's. The event starts Saturday at 10 a.m. and lasts through Sunday.
