When it comes to Valentine's Day, most of us think about getting that special someone flowers, chocolate, or maybe even cooking them dinner. But did you know for the last 15 years, this date has also been a time to bring awareness globally to violent acts against women?
A large group of people gathered at Farragut Square Thursday afternoon for "The One Billion Rising" event. It along with others similar rallies around the globe have been organized to support women who have been victims of violence.
Amnesty International reports one in three women will sustain some kind of abuse in their lives.
