Aldermen want to proof red light cameras are improving safety

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A group of Chicago aldermen wants proof that red light cameras are improving traffic safety in Chicago – not just making money.

The aldermen are concerned that the cameras were only installed by Redflex Traffic Systems to collect lots of money by ticketing drivers.

They have introduced a resolution calling for city officials to explain what role Redflex played in deciding where the cameras went.

He resolution would also see whether revenue projections were considered in choosing the locations.
