
New estimates show the D.C. region growing by 32 percent, or to nearly 7 million people by 2040.
The influx would give the area about 1.6 million new residents in just 30 years.
The study also shows the city's outermost suburbs growing fastest.
Employment growth is supposed to keep pace, however experts say traffic will get even worse than it already is.
