Rep. Carol Sente proposes less tackling in Ill. football

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

An Illinois lawmaker wants to cut down on tackling in high school football.

Lincolnshire representative Carol Sente proposed that teams only be allowed to tackle during one practice per week in Illinois.

She said the restriction would protect young athletes from having brain damage from repeated jolts to the head.

Some high school coaches said limiting tackling during practice would make the game less safe because athletes wouldn't learn proper technique.
