It's no secret that other states are trying to steal California's companies and the jobs they provide. But one governor is taking it to a whole new level.
Last week FOX 11 Investigative Producer Heidi Cuda reported about Texas Governor Rick Perry's radio ads that aired in a half-dozen California cities. Those spots touted his state's lower taxes and better business climate.
Now the governor is here on a recruiting trip -- kind of like a football coach. But instead of athletes, he's going after top business players.
Perry is visiting with high-tech, bio-tech, and film industry leaders. The first stop on Monday was northern California. His schedule also includes LA and Orange County.
As we reported last week, California Governor Jerry Brown calls this a "cheap gimmick."
California's Republican leaders say Perry's visit underscores how vulnerable California companies are to poaching.
Facebook, Apple, eBay and Chevron are among the major California companies that have created jobs in Texas.
Certain projects, such as adding a well thought-out family room can be a wise investment, as they do add to the value of the home. Other projects, however, allow little opportunity to recover the costs when it's time to sell.
