Police are warning residents of the Southwest Side Ashburn neighborhood of home invasions that have occurred in that area over the past two months.
In these incidents, in January and February, a man confronts victims outside of their home -- in one case luring a victim out of the house to confront him -- then forces the victim back into the home, where the offender forcefully, or by threat of force, takes property from the victim's home.
According to a community alert from police, the incidents have happened in the 2900 block of West 81st Street at approximately 12:12 a.m. on January 10 and in the 3900 block of West 82nd Street on February 7, about 5:45 p.m.
The description of the offender varies, but generally was described as a black man, between 30 and 40 years old, 5-foot-9 to 6-foot tall, about 200 to 220 pounds.
Police advise homeowners to keep the perimeter of their property well-lighted, keep doors and windows secured, and to immediately report suspicious activity to police.
If anyone has any information on these incidents, they are asked to contact Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8380.
