NJ Transit restores rail service

Posted: Updated:
NEW JERSEY (MYFOXNY.COM) -

NJ Transit announced Saturday that service will be restored on the Morris & Essex and the Montclair rail lines as of noon today. This includes Midtown Direct service along the Morristown Line.

Engineers have completed inspections and crews have restored power to overhead catenary wires and signal systems. As a result, service will be able to resume in a safe manner.

Customers should continue to check njtransit.com for service information before travelling as there may be weather-related delays on the system.

System wide Cross-Honoring Remains in Effect:

To give customers additional travel options, NJ Transit will continue to offer full system wide cross-honoring on Saturday, February 9, enabling customers to use their ticket or pass on an alternate travel mode--rail, light rail or bus. Additionally, NJ Transit bus, rail, light rail and bus passes will be cross-honored on private carrier buses.

Extended Station Hours for Customer Comfort:

All NJ Transit-owned and operated rail station waiting rooms will remain open with extended hours.
