5 killed in Troup County collision

LAGRANGE, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say five people in south Georgia have been killed in a head-on collision.

Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright says a two-car crash around 6:45 p.m. Friday near LaGrange - about 45 miles north of Columbus - left five people dead and two others injured.

Wright says one person was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center and the other was taken to a hospital in Columbus. The extent of their injuries was unclear Friday night.

Authorities have not released the names of anyone involved in the crash and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
