Pedestrian struck by train near Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, Va. -

Amtrak officials say a pedestrian has been struck by a train south of Alexandria.

Authorities say Amtrak Train 19 traveling from New York to New Orleans hit a person on the tracks about 7 p.m. Thursday.

An Amtrak spokesman says there were 226 passengers on the train and none was hurt.

The condition of the struck pedestrian was not known.
