New York Fashion Week: BCBGMAXAZRIA

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

From the well-dressed to the Avant guard and the wacky, New Yorkers strutted their stuff on the first day of New York Fashion Week on the runway and off.

Wearable art was the theme of the BCBGMAXAZRIA show. Husband and wife design team Lubov and Max Azria say this season's "Gypsy Chic" collection was inspired by Istanbul architecture and an edgy graffiti artist.

Being chic in the cold weather wasn't a challenge for the well-heeled guests.

One woman was decked out in polka dots and furry shoes.

One fashion week vet made a splash in her mouse ears from Barney's. Those ears will set you back more than $50.

But others showed you don't have to have a ton of cash to look like a million bucks. One guy rocked a modest H&M suit.

Saba Gray says if you want to look fabulous, it's all about the vintage.

"You have to have the skill to take the old and the new and take something that cost you $5 and something that cost you $500 and make it work together," Gray says.
