Same Detroit church robbed twice of audio equipment

Posted: Updated:
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (MyFoxDetroit) -

True Gospel Tabernacle Church in Detroit was robbed of its audio equipment for the second time in one week. This time the crooks cleared out the church's entire supply.

One suspect was also injured during the second break-in, leaving behind bloody fingerprints after possibly cutting himself on some broken glass.

The church was robbed the first time just earlier this week. $15,000 worth of audio equipment was taken. The thieves made off with soundboards, mixers, and a drum machine.

After the first break-in, police came to take statements and look around. But the church security guard, Daniel Baker, made the biggest discovery outside the back door – a trail of foot prints leading straight to a neighborhood home.

But Pastor Roderick Dallas shared his disappointment with Fox 2's Maurielle Lue earlier this week, when officers didn't even seem interested in checking out the trail.

In response, the Detroit Police issued a statement to Lue reading, "With no witnesses, the footprints do not give probable cause to search a home. This matter has been brought to our attention and will be thoroughly investigated."

Police did return to the church after the second break-in, and began following some of the foot prints.

In the meantime, the church's choir is still able to rehearse and prepare to release its first single. An audio production company in Royal Oak has offered its services to the church, free of charge, to help finish the recording.
