Winter Storm Watch in effect for southeast Michigan

DETROIT (WJBK) -

Winter storm watch in effect from Thursday evening through Friday morning.

The national weather service in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a winter storm watch which is in effect from Thursday evening through Friday morning.

Snow is expected to increase in intensity Thursday evening and persist into Thursday night.

The national Weather Service says total snowfall accumulations of 4 to 8 inches are possible.. with the highest totals along the Interstate-69 corridor.

Weather Authority Rich Luterman says Clouds will increase Thursday… with a good chance for accumulating snow Thursday evening into early Friday morning… perhaps 2-4 inches… high 34. 

Snow will taper off early Friday… otherwise cloudy… high 32.  Expect lots of sunshine Saturday… chilly high 25.  Clouds will increase again on Sunday… leading to a few Sunday night rain showers… high 37.

Impacts:

Roads may become snow covered and slippery affecting the
Morning commute on Friday.

Visibilities under one quarter mile will be possible Thursday
Night.
