Bensalem Township To Hold Gun Buyback Event

Posted: Updated:
BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. -

Officials in Bensalem Township are set to hold a two-day gun buyback program that begins Wednesday night.

The program, which opens at 6 p.m. and runs through 9 p.m. at the Bensalem Township Municipal Building, offers people the opportunity to hand in their guns in exchange for cash.

Township Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo says the program will pay people for the voluntary surrender of their firearms with no questions asked.

Township officials say they're holding the program with the goal of reducing gun violence.

The township is offering up to $200 for assault rifles, up to $100 for semi-automatic handguns and up to $50 for handguns, rifles and shot guns.

The gun buyback event continues on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
