SUV Crashes Through Philly Airport's Fence

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

An SUV drove right into the fencing that surrounds the Philadelphia International Airport early Wednesday morning.

Police are investigating, but at this point they don't believe it was an act of terrorism. They think the crash was truly an accident and something caused the driver to lose control.

Airport police say the woman driving the vehicle either slid on fresh snow or just didn't make the turn in time as Scott Way meets Tinicum Island Way.

Only the vehicle's front end and two wheels went up the curb, but a section of security fence collapsed.

No one was injured, the driver was not intoxicated and she was not ticketed.

She was allowed to drive her vehicle home, and police were not immediately releasing her identity.

Police are guarding the opening in the fence until a repair crew arrives.

It was a gloomy Sunday as the whole area remain socked in with low clouds & fog, drizzle and scattered showers.

The weather remains unsettled through most of the work week. The difference is that it will really warm up -- temperatures soar into the 80s by Tuesday.  That mild and humid air mass will fuel afternoon thunderstorms.

By Thursday a cold front moves by bringing more rain.  It will also bring drier and cooler weather by Friday as we finally clear out.
