CAIRO -
There were some tense moments in Cairo, Egypt, as someone apparently threw a shoe at Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
At least one protester has been taken into custody in connection with the incident.
Ahmadinejad was visiting a mosque at the time.
The shoe did not hit him, but it did strike his bodyguard.
The Iranian president's security team quickly escorted Ahmadinejad from the area.
The man who threw the shoe was reportedly a Syrian angered by Ahmadinejad's support for Syrian president Bashar Al-Assad.
Hitting somebody with the sole of a shoe is a sign of disrespect in Arab countries.
