The fire that killed a Gallaudet University Professor and her 16-year-old daughter was also a heartbreaking loss for her son and other members of the school's deaf community. Everything Jimmy Gardner owned was consumed by the flames.
Friends organized a raffle ticket fundraiser to help get him back on his feet. He's been staying with friends since the January 23rd fire that burned down the family home on Manor Drive in Falls Church. It took firefighters 30 minutes to contain the fire. They then found the bodies of Math professor Laura Snyder-Gardner, 48, and her teenaged daughter, Mary Ann.
Raffle prizes included gift certificates to restaurants and tickets to Wizards and Capitals games.
