PHOENIX -

At least 16 pharmacies in Phoenix and Chandler have been robbed by the same man since November.

Police are asking for help from the public to catch him because he seems to be getting more desperate to get his hands on prescription drugs.

Police say the suspect is stealing oxycodone from local pharmacies, and he's becoming more and more violent.

"When he first did these crimes targeting pharmacies, he'd come in with a note and simulate a weapon, but then he started bringing a weapon and recently he even brought in a shotgun," said Sgt. Darren Burch, with Silent Witness.

The man is between 19 and 35, about 5'5", weighing between 140 and 180 pounds. He's Hispanic and speaks with a thick Spanish accent.

Burch says he strikes during the day at busy drug and grocery stores.

"The likelihood of someone getting shot...if he were to start shooting is very high so this is a very dangerous individual we need to get off the street," said Burch.

The suspect has used a grey Dodge Stratus, an 80's model truck, and a gold Mercedes as getaway cars. He wears white gloves that could be a sign of his profession.

"He also has a lot of different vehicles he uses so it's real possible his profession by trade mechanic or car rental someplace where he has access to vehicles and uses these white gloves," said Burch.

He also has an injury that makes him stand out.

"He had his left arm in a sling, his left arm was also wrapped. Witnesses say it looks very professional, as if it were a real injury. He also had some scratches on his face," said Burch.

Police are hoping that someone in the medical field will recognize the suspect from treating him.
