NEW CASTLE COUNTY, Del. -
Police in New Castle County say they arrested a woman earlier this week who was found to have a little more than 50 pounds of marijuana in her car.
Police say the arrest was the result of a lengthy investigation that ended Monday.
According to investigators, members of the New Castle County Drug Control Squad were called to a local postal store, where five packages were delivered.
Police say a woman arrived at the store and was observed signing for the packages. The packages were then taken to her vehicle, police said.
According to police, the woman had a suspended driver's license.
Police say shortly after the woman drove away, officers conducted a traffic stop. A police K-9 officer was called to the location and managed to positively identify the drug, police said.
After executing a search warrant, police say they found the five tubular shaped cardboard packages with marijuana inside. In total, police say there was 50.2 pounds of marijuana.
The woman, 30-year-old Dana Bates, was taken into custody and has since been arraigned, police said.

Not the prettiest Friday, but we're ready for a great weekend. Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. After an early high in the upper sixties, temperatures fall & winds pick up out of the chillier northwest. Right now the Memorial Day Weekend looks sunny and cool with highs in the low to mid 60s on Saturday, in the 70s Sunday & Monday. Cooler temps at the shore.
