Longport Home Under Construction Collapses During Storm

Posted: Updated:
LONGPORT, N.J. -

The wood framing of a house that was under construction collapsed Thursday morning in Longport, N.J.

Construction workers who were building the house told FOX 29's Steve Keeley that around 4 a.m. it came crashing down.

No one was inside the building in the middle of the night. But it is a residential street.

Below the collapsed framing you can see the concrete first floor and the foundation.

Keeley was at the scene as a fire truck arrived at the scene to check things out.

Earlier, Keeley was at the scene of a live power line that was down on Dorset Avenue, a main drag in the shore town of Ventnor.

And before that Keeley was in Atlantic City, where he and his photographer found traffic lights down, siding blowing off homes, and tarps that were covering damaged roofs from Hurricane Sandy blown onto power lines. Some power outages were reported in casino resort town.
