ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (AP) - A police officer in the southern Arizona town of Oro Valley has been released from active duty after being accused of theft.
Police say they investigating a larceny from the Wal-Mart store at the Oro Valley Marketplace.
During the investigation, information was obtained which implicated an on-duty police officer who was involved in a separate larceny.
Police contacted the Pima County Sheriff's Department and asked them to investigate the incident.
Sheriff investigators say they met with Mario Molina and recovered the stolen property.
Police say Molina is a 7-year veteran of the department.
He was cited and released for a misdemeanor theft charge and police say they've begun an internal investigation into the case.
Details of the theft case weren't released and police didn't know if Molina has an attorney.
