Schaumburg officials announced on Wednesday that Terrance O'Brien, Matthew Hudak, and John Cinchy had been on leave since they were arrested on Jan. 16.
They're accused of skimming cocaine and marijuana confiscated during arrests, then reselling the drugs through a street dealer. The tactical officers were already the subjects of an internal investigation when they were arrested by DuPage County and federal authorities.
"The fact that these three individuals are no longer members of the Schaumburg Police Department is good news for our residents and for the honest, law abiding officers that are working in our community every day," Village Manager Ken Fritz said in a statement.
Cichy and O'Brien resigned Tuesday, while Hudak resigned last week, Fritz said. All had been placed on leave following their arrests.
Despite the resignations, Schaumburg officials plan to continue their investigation to "gather as much information as possible about the actions of these former police officers," Fritz said.
They are due for arraignment on drug conspiracy charges on Thursday morning, and will remain jailed in DuPage County until that court appearance.
