Cops Chase Burglary Suspects from Riverside to Compton

Posted: Updated:

RIVERSIDE (CNS) - Three men suspected of burglarizing a Riverside home led police on a high-speed chase today that came to an end in Los Angeles County, where they were arrested after a brief foot pursuit.

The chase began just before noon on Adams Street after patrol officers attempted to stop a vehicle whose occupants had allegedly broken into a house, according to reports from the scene.

Several Riverside police units followed the suspects onto the westbound Riverside (91) Freeway, where the chase reached speeds in excess of 100 mph through Corona into Anaheim.

The California Highway Patrol took over the pursuit in Orange County. The suspects eventually made their way to Compton, where their vehicle clipped the rear of another car. The three suspects abandoned the vehicle a short time later near Bennet Street and Wilmington Avenue and fled on foot, according to the CHP.

One was quickly arrested, while a second hid briefly inside a motor home before surrendering. The third surrendered about 10 minutes later.
