CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
A northwest Indiana middle school teacher was charged Monday with child solicitation after he allegedly engaged in sexually explicit conversations with a teen girl, according to prosecutors.
Bryan Tyman, 44, met the girl when she was in eighth grade and he was teaching at Fegely Middle School in Portage, Ind., a release from Porter County prosecutor Brian Gensel said.
He gave her and her friends rides home on two occasions and she played X-Box with him online, the girl told police.
The girl told police the relationship became "creepy" and he began sending her inappropriate text messages.
On Dec. 29, 2012, the girl and her friends used her phone to text Tyman and he sent them a photo of his exposed genitals, the release said.
Tyman, of the 6000 block of Brie Avenue in Portage, was charged with two felony counts of child solicitation and one count of vicarious sexual gratification, the release said.
Tyman is in custody at Porter County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
