PHILADELPHIA -

Right-handed relief pitcher Chad Durbin signed a one-year contract that includes a club option for 2014, the Phillies announced Tuesday.

Durbin returns to Philadelphia after being a member of the 2008 Phillies' world championship team.

The 35-year-old pitcher went 4-1 with one save and a 3.10 ERA in 76 games last season with the Atlanta Braves. The Phillies say Durbin exceeded 60.0 innings for the sixth straight season.

When pitching against NL East opponents, Durbin held batters to a .169 batting average and had a .83 ERA.

In his time with the Phillies, 2008-10, Durbin went 11-7 with a 3.62 ERA in 194 games.

Right-hander J.C. Ramirez was designated for assignment to make room for Durbin, the Phillies said.
