D.C. police are searching for a suspect who opened fire at a northeast Washington nightclub, sending five people to the hospital. Police say officers responded around 2:30 a.m. Saturday at the D.C. Soundstage on Benning Road. Four men were shot, and a woman also took a bullet to the chest. All five victims are expected to survive.
Investigators are working to determine a motive. Promoter Eddie Kayne says, "This was a random act. Somebody walked off the street, in the door, into the club and started firing." He says D.C. Sound Stage was hosting a private birthday party at the time and he does not believe the suspect knew anyone inside. Kayne says the venue does not have a history of violence.
The gunman is described as a black male, 20-25 years old, about 6 feet, 170 lbs., medium complexion with a full beard and dreadlocks. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
