LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. (AP) - It was cyclists vs. horse riders in western Arizona as Lake Havasu City officials weighed who gets to use trails at a desert park.
The cyclists have won, at least for now.
The Today's News-Herald newspaper reports that city officials have decreed that horseback riding won't be allowed the rest of this year on trails in the 1,100-acre Special Activities and Recreation Area.
That means B.J. Hill's horse riding outfits, including one that operates out of Jackson Hole, Wyo., during summer months, won't be back on the park's trails any time soon.
The city's decision is a result of complaints from mountain bike riders and hikers that use by horses left the park's trails with several inches of dust and divots.
