NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

It was a frigid and snowy Friday in the Tristate region.

The National Weather Service said 1-3 inches of snow are possible, with the snow spreading from west to east into Friday night.

Central Park in Manhattan finally accumulated at least once inch, the first time all season.

The steadiest snow fell late in the afternoon and evening before it is expected to taper off around midnight.

The snow accumulated quickly south of New York City with the highest amounts in southern New Jersey.

Motorists were urged to use caution because of slick travel conditions.

Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing by Tuesday.
