CHESTER COUNTY, Pa. -
Police in Tredyffrin Township are looking for the man who approached a Girl Scout troop at a Pathmark Store over the weekend, reached into a box containing money and stole cash.
Police say it happened around 5 p.m. at the Pathmark Store on the 400 block of W. Swedesford Road in the Berwyn section of Tredyfrrin Township.
The troop was standing near their table and were selling cookies when the robbery took place.
Investigators say the man reached into the cash box and stole $20, but the amount of money could have been higher had it not been for a few troop members who quickly closed the box and denied the suspect further access.
Police say the man was seen running towards the back west side of the building before entering a blue vehicle and leaving the parking lot.
The suspect is described as a white man, 20-30 years of age with a medium height and build. He was last seen wearing a dark colored head covering, a dark colored shirt and light colored pants.
If you have any information, you're asked to call Tredyffrin Township Police at 610-647-1440.
Natalye Paquin, CEO of Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania said the Girl Scounts were saddened and shocked to hear the news.
"First and foremost, our concern is the health and safety of our Girl Scouts and we are thankful that no one was injured during this incident," a statement read.
