WASHINGTON -
D.C. police are still trying to figure out how a car veered off the road and into the C&O Canal.
The accident happened around 3:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon on 33rd and Water Streets in Georgetown.
The driver and the car were in about 10 feet of water when firefighters made the rescue.
Witnesses say the car was speeding when it went into the canal.
The driver only suffered minor injuries.
