DETROIT (WJBK) -- Celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  Fox 2's Amy Andrews went to Osborn High School Preparatory Academy in Detroit Wednesday where the school is celebrating the King Holiday through service.

Osborn's Principal, Calvin Patillo says, "This is an annual event where community service is taking place at Osborn.  In this particular room we felt it was important that kids be exposed to entrepreneurship..so at the request of the students we decided to transform this room into a school store and also a venue for the kids to perform spoken word."

Shantinique Shedrick, a student at Osborn says, "this fits in with Dr. King's message because we need to create a change.  We are the 21st century and I wouldn't want his message to be wasted anymore than it is now.  I feel we are better than this.  We are Detroit and we can make change every day.  We are not the stereotypical Detroit that everyone sees.  We are far more greater than that and this is our message."
