Valuable Book of Mormon returned to rightful owner

MESA, Ariz. -

We told you the story about a stolen book of Mormon several months ago -- but we are happy to inform you it has been found.

A Texas book dealer says he paid $7,500 for two pages of the book. He contacted authorities when he found out those pages came from a stolen book.

The suspect, identified as Jay Linford, is being held at a detention facility in Virginia pending extradition to Arizona.

Linford contacted the dealer to sell the book. Police were able to find the book in his home and returned it to its owner.

"So we bought it... well again over 40 years ago now. It's never been under glass, never been touched with white gloves, we let people come and read it and open the book and feel the spirit of the book," says book store owner Helen Schlie.

The book is valued at $40,000 and is one of 5,000 printed in 1830.
