NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

If you still haven't tossed out your dry, dead fire hazard of a Christmas tree, you can bring it to the city's MulchFest 2013 this weekend.

The city has 35 chipping sites and 45 drop-off sites where you can bring your tree to be turned into mulch.

When you drop off your tree at a chipping site you will also get a bag of mulch you can use in your own backyard, garden, or in flower pots.

Drop-off sites do not give out bags of mulch.

The Parks Department uses mulch to nourish plantings, parks, and those greenstreets plant beds across the city.

MulchFest is taking place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, January 12 and 13.

Before bringing in your tree, you must remove all lights, ornaments, and tinsel.
