Several law enforcement agencies were called to a home near 69th Avenue and Osborn Wednesday and we're hearing that they found hundreds of pounds of marijuana.
500 pounds of pot were found in a home near 69th Avenue and Osborn Wednesday after several law enforcement agencies were called to the scene.
Police arrested 47-year-old Martin Carrillo and 27-year-old Osiris Rodriguez-Luna at the home.
The state gang task force originally arrested several people, but neighbors were really concerned that the home is across the street from a park any many children walk past the house daily.
The bales of marijuana were found in a car's trunk in the garage.
Police say the amount of marijuana found could equate to a street value of over $100,000.
The task force executed a search warrant after receiving tips and putting the house under surveillance. It didn't take them long to realize something illegal was going on.
Authorities say it's a very good thing that no one was hurt with all the violence associated with drug dealing.
"You can see..it literally is right across the street from where children are playing..this is a significant drug dealer. These are the types of places drug dealers target when they find out that there's a significant amount of drugs and houses. We've all heard about the home invasions, drive-by shootings..and it's right next to a school -- pretty significant," said Sgt. Dave Nilson of the Gang and Immigration Intelligence Team Enforcement Mission (GIITEM).
It's not known how long the home was operating as a drug house. Some of the neighbors who talked to FOX 10 off-camera stated that they didn't really notice anything suspicious as far as a lot of activity -- people coming and going.
But someone did -- and they alerted the state gang task force.
Carrillo was charged with transportation of marijuana for sale, possession, use and sale of marijuana in a drug free school zone, sale of marijuana, possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and money laundering.
Rodriuguez-Luna was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, sale of marijuana and possession of marijuana.
