WARREN, Mich. (WJBK) -- Six suspects are in custody following a botched ATM heist and police chase along a Detroit freeway.

Police say six men in a white van smashed through the entrance of the CVS pharmacy on 9 Mile and Schoenerr in Warren shortly before 5 a.m. Thursday. Witnesses alerted police and the suspects fled the scene before the ATM was loaded into the van.

Warren police pursued the suspects into Detroit where the van hit a guardrail and a police cruiser before coming to a stop on eastbound I-94 near Russell St.

The suspects fled on foot, but Warren police say all six were apprehended.

The eastbound lanes of I-94 were closed to traffic for nearly an hour during the investigation.

No one was injured during the attempted robbery.
