Vehicle sought in pedestrian fatality on New York Avenue

WASHINGTON, DC -

DC Police are searching for a vehicle of interest in connection with a pedestrian hit and run fatality that happened on New York Avenue and First Street, NW.

The incident occurred Friday, December 28th at about 6:00pm. A 2003 Pontiac Bonneville, was traveling east on New York Avenue and struck a pedestrian after crossing through a green signal at First Street. After being struck by the Pontiac, a tan SUV with DC registration ran over the pedestrian. The Pontiac remained on the scene; the SUV failed to stop and continued to travel eastbound on New York Avenue. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital and admitted in critical condition. The driver of the Pontiac was not injured.

On Saturday, December 29th, at approximately 2:15pm, the pedestrian succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. Police identified the victim as a 16-year-old female of Northwest, DC.
