Arrest made in Manassas teen's death

Update:  22-year-old Johnny E. Bonilla, of Gainesville, Virginia, has been arrested and charged with the murder of 19-year-old Zavier Stringfellow.  Members of the US Marshals Service were assisted by Prince William County Police and Fairfax County Police and arrested the suspect at his home.

According to police the suspect and victim did not know each other prior to the evening of the incident. They had planned to meet up on the evening of Friday, December 28. Apparently, they met; there was a struggle and the victim was stabbed.

Zavier Stringfellow was a sophomore at Ferrum College.  He played Defensive End for the Ferrum Football Team.


The body of a 19-year-old was found behind the wheel of a minivan Friday evening in Fairfax County, Virginia.  An officer came across the minivan that had crashed into a barrier at the end of a service road off of Chain Bridge Road.  Police identified the body as that of Zavier Stringfellow of Manassas, Virginia.

Police are investigating Stringfellow's death as an apparent homicide.  According to the Medical Examiner the teen died of a trauma wound to the upper body.

Fairfax County Police are investigating.
