Part of outer loop of Beltway shut down after accident

WASHINGTON -

Part of I-495 on the outer loop of the Beltway has been shut down after a serious accident Monday evening. Eight people have been taken to the hospital.

Authorities say the accident involved four vehicles and occurred near the Connecticut Avenue exit just before 8 p.m.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Assistant Chief Scott Graham says two adults have life-threatening injuries, three adult females have serious, but non-life threatening injuries and three others, two adults and one teen, have minor injuries.
