A 44-year-old DC man is dead, the victim of a double shooting in the 1100 block of Bladensburg Road NE.
It happened just before 2 a.m. Sunday. Police say the two men were sitting in a car there when a suspect walked up and shot them both.
Fifth District detectives rushed to the scene after the call came in.
They found one man lying in the roadway, and a second man sitting in a car in front of Merchants Tire. Sources say both had been shot in the head.
"The victim who was lying was pronounced dead on the scene," Lt. Robert Alder of the Metropolitan Police Department says. "He's been identified as Raymond Harris and he's from Northwest Washington."
All police will say about the victim fighting for his life is that he's a 69 year old man. The men were sitting in a Chevy Impala when they were targeted.
"We do believe a suspect walked up on foot and shot into the vehicle," Alder says.
Some neighbors walking by Saturday afternoon said the area is changing, and not for the better.
Police don't yet know why the two men were parked in the lot, but they do have some key evidence that could further the investigation-- surveillance tape and some potential witnesses.
There's a 25,000 dollar reward for information that helps police solve this murder. The number to call is 202-727-9099.
