At Christmastime, kids of all ages come to Santa Claus with their wish lists.
So who does "Ol' Saint Nick turn to, when he needs help?
Why, FOX 29s Bruce Gordon, of course!
Joe Galdi loves playing Santa Claus- whether at the office Christmas party, or while visiting sick children at the hospital.
And when he performs, he dresses the part.
It's important that his "Santa Suit" be just right.
"The suit represents something much bigger," says Galdi. "Especially for kids."
Galdi is wearing a new suit on this day- one he rushed out to buy Tuesday night for about $350.
Which leads us to our story.
You see, Joe's wife Kathy brought his old suit to Ace Cleaners on Beidler Rd. in King of Prussia, last Friday, and when she returned on Tuesday morning, "I was shocked! I just said- I'm like, it's ruined! How can he wear this suit?"
The red had faded. You can see it when compared to the Santa hat, which was not cleaned.
As for the white fur trim?
"It's pink!" says Kathy. "And they said, ‘well, the colors are red and white and sometimes they blend together.'"
Joe was heartbroken.
"What went through my mind was disappointment, thinking that I wouldn't be able to be Santa."
FOX 29s Gordon took the faded suit back to Ace, and explained the problem to owner Jong Won Kim.
She admitted that the colors had run, telling Gordon the material was "no good."
But she pointed out that she had taken the $18 cleaning fee off Galdi's bill.
Gordon asked whether Jong would be willing to reimburse "Santa" the cost of his old suit- $225- and she graciously agreed.
Gordon called Kathy Galdi to the cleaners, and moments later, "Mrs. Claus" left with $225 cash in hand.
"Thank you so much!" she gushed to Gordon. "All I did was send an email- this is awesome!"
"FOX 29 was able to come in- specifically Bruce Gordon- and help bridge that communications gap, with the cleaners. It's good when Santa's happy!"
