The Prince William County Police Department is asking the public's help in a reported sexual assault in Woodbridge.

The alleged victim is a 15-year-old girl who tells police a man knocked on the front door of her home along Echo Court on December 17 around 3 p.m. He claimed to work for a cable company and asked to speak with a person whose name she did not recognize. She said she couldn't help him and he left.

About 10 minutes later, the man returned. The teen says he threatened her until she let him inside. Once inside the home, the man displayed what appeared to be a knife and forced the victim to a bedroom where he sexually assaulted her.

At one point, the victim began to scream and kick towards the man who then ran off.

Investigators say there was an adult home at the time, but she was in the basement and didn't hear anything until it was too late.

While the suspect claimed to be a utility worker, he was not in uniform. According to the description, he was wearing a gray jacket, red shirt, black pants and black dress shoes. He appeared to be in his 20s, with a medium build.

Anyone with information relating to this case is asked to call Crime Solvers at 703-670-3700 or 1-866-411-TIPS. You don't have to give your name, just the information. You could earn up to a $1,000 cash reward.
