OXON HILL, Md. -

An armored truck courier was shot during a robbery Tuesday afternoon in Oxon Hill.

Police say a car full of masked men surprised the courier as he left the truck outside the Save A Lot grocery store in the 6300 block of Livingston Road after 1 p.m.

Witnesses tell police the armored truck had just pulled up in front of the store when a silver four-door sedan pulled up behind it. All of the men inside were wearing masks. According to police, at least one gunman got out the car and confronted the guard, who was shot once in the face.

Witnesses tell police the courier was in the process of taking a bag out of the truck and into the store when the gunman opened fire just outside the main entrance.

One of the masked men then grabbed the bag and jumped back into the car.

Witnesses say there were at least three men inside.

A surveillance camera mounted on the wall outside the store may have captured the shooting. (Click here to watch surveillance video showing the suspect vehicle leaving the scene)

FBI agents and other sworn officers gathered around a man with a laptop a little over an hour after the shooting and looked intently at what was on the screen. At this hour, police say they have no video to release to the media and no tag number from the getaway car.

The victim's injuries are not considered life-threatening and he is in stable condition.
