Lack Of Funding Could Force Bucks County Cat Shelter To Close

Posted: Updated:
BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. -

Dozens of cats will be in need of a home if a Bucks County cat shelter doesn't soon come up with the money it needs to stay open.

The shelter, Bingo's Foundation, is in Croydon and is home to between 40 and 60 cats at any given time.

Eleanor Shaknitz takes the cats in and finds them new homes. She cares for the pets that are ill and won't be adopted.

But after three years in her building along Route 13, Shaknitz says her lease is not being renewed.

Finding the right space for cats isn't easy, as they don't like to change environments. Shaknitz says she wants to stay in the same area and tells FOX 29's Lauren Cohn her shelter's current location is a "perfect place."

The Bingo Foundation doesn't have much money and operates paycheck to paycheck but still Shaknitz says they won't turn away any new casts.

You can learn more about Bingo's Foundation and find out how you can help on the foundation's website.
