CAMDEN COUNTY, N.J. -
A $100,000 gun buyback program in Camden County is scheduled to begin December 14 through the 15, New Jersey Attorney General Jeffrey S. Chiesa announced Thursday.
The gun program will be carried out through the cooperative efforts of the Attorney General's Office, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office, Camden Police and others.
The Attorney General says between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on the 14th and 15th the Antioch Baptist Church on Ferry Avenue and the Higher Ground Temple on Vine Street will host the "Guns for Cash" event.
"As we all recognize, there are too many guns on the street and too many people dying as a result of gun violence - not only in Camden County, but throughout New Jersey," Chiesa said in a statement.
"The gun buyback campaign we're announcing today is part of a broad-based, continuing effort by my office, working closely with our law enforcement partners and community stakeholders, to change that. If we can save one life through this program, it's money well spent," the Attorney General said.
