Georgia Tech says a faculty member was attacked in his office Wednesday morning on campus.
The incident occurred at the Love Building on Ferst Street around 11:30 a.m. The building is the home to the Material Science and Engineering department on the west campus.
Police said that the faculty member had left his office. When he came back five minutes later, he found a man inside. After being questioned, the man hit the teacher and fled, leaving a leaving a backpack that had been stolen from another Tech building on Nov. 27.
The faculty member suffered minor injuries.
Police said the suspect in the attack is 20 to 25 years old, about 5-feet-8 and was wearing a black jacket with white stripes down his sleeves.
Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call Georgia Tech police at (404) 894-2500.
