GRIFFIN, Ga. -
A fire in Griffin claimed the life of an elderly woman on Tuesday. Firefighters say the home in the 1300 block of Jackson Street was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived around 5:30 p.m.
The woman, 75-year-old Jewel Fambro, was reportedly found near the front door. Fire crews said it appeared that she was trying to escape.
Witnesses say they heard explosions coming from the home.
