ATLANTA -

More than 1,000 Latino young people plan to gather at Emory University in Atlanta for a leadership conference.

The Latin American Association's 13th Annual Latino Youth Leadership Conference on Saturday is geared toward college-bound middle and high school students and their parents.

The conference is titled "The Stepping Stone for Your Future: Identity, Knowledge and Leadership" and aims to motivate young people to graduate from high school and attend college.

The conference agenda features dozens of breakout sections on topics like immigration, deferred action, bilingualism and science, technology, engineering and math. There will also be sessions on writing college essays, preparing for the SAT and how to apply for scholarships.

There will also be a college and career fair and a workshop for eighth graders on transitioning to high school.
