OLNEY, Md. -

Montgomery County Police say there is no evidence to support the original notion that a gun had been fired at party Friday night in Olney.

FOX 5 has learned, the parents of the teen party host, were home for Friday night's chaos. According to a Neighbor who attended the party, the parents were trying to cancel the party and kick everybody out when the number of attendees spiked.

Police confirmed Saturday they did issue numerous alcohol citations but no one was arrested. This is an ongoing investigation and at this time the possibility of criminal charges cannot be ruled out.

Police were responding to reports of underage drinking at a large party in the 17500 block of Old Baltimore Road at around 9:30 p.m.

Gunshots were reportedly heard coming from the area by responding officers and backup was sent.

More than 25 police cruisers and a state police helicopter were sent to the area.

Police canvassed the neighborhood and questioned partygoers, but there are no reports of anyone hit by gunfire.

Police have released teenagers that were detained to their parents.
