WASHINGTON -
Metropolitan Police have released surveillance video of a strong-armed robbery inside a corner market Monday night that ended with the store owner getting punched by one of the robbers.
It happened at the 1618 Market on Rhode Island Ave, NW Monday around 7:30 p.m. Owner Madhanie Weldegergish was behind the counter.
"They came in, three guys together, and then they stole wine," he tells us. "They took two bottles of wine from the store and then ran away. And I followed him."
After returning to his store, Weldegergish says the thief returned and attacked him, punching him several times, then stealing money from his wallet.
That confrontation was also caught on camera.
Police are now hoping somebody will recognize the men on the video and give them a call.
