
D.C. police say they shot and wounded a man in a neighborhood just north of Howard University in Washington after the man pulled out a handgun.
Police say three plainclothes police officers were patrolling near Georgia Avenue and Kenyon Street NW around 11 p.m. Wednesday when they approached a man holding his side. The man ran away from the officers, and police pursued him. Police say the man pulled out a handgun and one officer fired his weapon and struck the man several times.
Police say the man was conscious and breathing when transported to a hospital.
No officers were injured. The identity of the man who was shot has not been released.
